Goblin Valley

Goblin Valley is a Mars-like maze of eroded sandstone located 50 miles east of Cathedral Valley Inn.

There is an unearthly aura there which makes some feel like they are no longer on this planet. The erosion there has left bizarre formations that resemble rock goblins, hence the name. Goblin Valley is ideal for family hikes and picnics.

Slot Canyons

Slot canyons are some of the most dinstictive natural features in the deserts of Utah. On all sides of the Cathedral Valley Inn you will find them.

In Capitol Reef there are Cottonwood Wash, Burro Wash, and Sheets Gulch, all of which are breathtaking and best hiked through on hot and sunny days.

To the east of the inn are Little Wild Horse Canyon, Leprechaun Valley, and the Ding & Dang Canyon, the latter being for more adventurous souls.

The most important thing to remember before traversing through these water-cut formations, is to check flash-flood warnings; it can be VERY DANGEROUS to hike through slot canyons in any wet weather.
